We are pleased to announce that the Akamai Net Usage Index for News has taken a new formas a Desktop Widget. This Widget enables users to monitor global news consumption from their desktop, seeing real-time the impact of current events on online media consumption.

I wish this widget would be updated to work with Yahoo Konfabulator engine. It's a wonderful widget.

I see Seth Jameson is obsessed with this tool :). Yeah, its real nice, Im studying sociology, but it even thought its nicvery nice.. it doesnt come in handy.

1- If you're not in business related to medias and/or sociology, I don't see the point in finding out what news consumption may be. It's this very modern idea that knowing is both knowing the fact and knowing what others know about the fact: the fact is enough for me.

I really like the look and feel of this widget - the smooth motion of the dial is especially cool. It would be nice if there were more size options - a "mini" mode would be cool (perhaps just showing the dial and the selected region).
