I just wish that there was a way to add custom dates of interest without needing to open the widget and edit the holidays files. Then we could add our own recurring dates such as birthdays and aniversaries, or a series of upcoming dates like first day of school, winter break, the summer and winter solstices, the vernal and autumnal equinoxs, upcoming shuttle launches, etc. With the custom dates it would also be nice to be able to create custom date categories instead of being limited to just N…ATIONAL and NOTABLE.

I do think that the custom dates should be kept in a separate file from the national holidays, and that you should be able to include the custom date files in theme packages.

This would help to make this widget a truly exceptional count down/up timer. More

In case you haven't figured it out yet, in the widget preferences on the personalize tab set the Startup Sound to a non existent wave file. For example I have mine set to none.wav. This also works for the target date sound.

Great timer, it is fully customizable.

But I need a little help here.
I want no sound at all for the startup (but the previous startup sound selected keeps playing). I don't know how to fix this. I tried the "clear custom images and sounds" but I get an error (I'm on VISTA).

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Arguably, this widget comes out of the box a little 'cute', but this timer works great and everything about it is customizable. You can change the icon, images, colors, timer animation. If you need a stripped down, plain wrapper countdown timer, this will do it. If you need a branded timer, this will do it. If you want to change the colors of the time, this will do it. Spend some time in the preferences. Chances are you can make this timer do exactly what you want it to do.
