To measure the beat rate of a piece of music, the user should click on the lower brown bar in time with the music. The Widget calculates a running average over a number of samples and displays the beat rate below the Widget. The text turns from white to green when the average is being taken over the number of samples specified in the Widget's preferences. The displayed number will become quite stable if a regular click rate is achieved.

The Widget can also act as a simple metronome. Click o…n the white triangle to start or stop the metronome. The metronome beat rate (MM) is shown in yellow text below the Widget and is set in the Widget's preferences.

Both modes can be used concurrently. Clicking the brown bar in time with the metronome will measure the metronome rate. This should, of course, be same as the metronome rate that has been set.

This dosen't seem to work... i'm playing music and playing other sounds with my PC, but its not moving or changing numbers

You can move ANY Widget, including this one, by dragging it with the control key down on Windows, or with the command key down on Macintosh. This is already explained in the Editor's Note (above).

this widget is kinda good but the really big can to this is that i cant move it!

Friederang: I've just downloaded the widget from this page and run it on Mac OS X 10.3.9 with Konfabulator 2.1.1 and all appears to be correct. Widgets don't have to be installed, so I am wondering whether you installed Konfabulator on your machine before you tried to start the widget. If you have already installed Konfabulator and have been able to run other widgets, then you will need to give me details of your operating system and Konfabulator version and a more detailed account of wh…at happened when you tried to start the widget.
