Why so sensitive about the character style? How do you even know it is Japanese? Many Asian countries use kanji, not just Japan (although the American use of "kanji" comes from the Japanese pronunciation). The big character in red is the traditional kanji character. The black is the simplified kanji version. Obviously, the traditional kanji is more elegant and why it is most likely bigger. Only China uses simplified kanji, but Singapore and other ethnic Chinese regions still use tra…ditional characters. Korea has its own alphabet system, but even uses traditional Chinese characters when writing kanji. Japan's kanji is based on China's traditional kanji. And Vietnam celebrates the Chinese New Year too, and they do not even use kanji anymore. So what's the big deal? More
