Ok, for next season many changes are going to be made. The coaching change was a must and has already been completed, with Carlisle now running the show. I have no idea how Avery went from protege to Isiah in less than 2 seasons but it happened. Next, comes the roster and this is where it gets tricky. I still feel that Dirk will be with the team because he is too good and exactly what are you going to get in his return that would immediately make you better. His trade value after the last 2… playoff disasters is probably as low as ever, even though he's an All-Pro. So we can count him in. Kidd's contract is too high and no team is really desiring him either after seeing him get schooled by Paul so bad. So count Kidd in as well. I feel that Bass and Terry will be around because they actually came to play against the Hornets, and Dampier will be there still because the Mavs have no other option at Center. Besides these six players, everyone else is game starting with Josh Howard. He's a good young all-around player but isn't what we need at that position. He came to rely on his jumper WAY to much this season, and isn't taking it to the hole like we need. Calling Maggette, calling Maggette...I think you see where this might be headed. Next Stack, George, and Malik Allen are definitely gone. Stack has definitely gotten older and it showed against N.O., he looked awful... and George and Allen gave us nothing either. Dallas could package some of these players for either draft picks are for a better young player. Many changes are coming and hopefully Carlisle will make it work. Good luck, because the West is a beast.More
Avery wanted a point guard who was proven and he could trust. He practically had to beg and Cuban came up with the be all end all solution of getting Kidd. Avery said SEVERAL TIMES that he thought the Mavs gave up too much to get a 35 year old Kidd. Cuban was willing to buy the most expensive band aid to place on a shotgun wound of a team and blame everyone for the mistake he made. And was the trade worth it? Kidd averaged. 9.9 points, 9.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds. He had ONE triple-double in 29… regular-season games with Dallas. I won't even put up his playoff stats because they are just laughable. Jason Kidd was one of the best in the league but to invest in a 35-year-old for the future of your team? Where is the logic? I understand that for so long that Dallas has had the stigma of being the Worst team in professional sports but when you finally have it turned around and you are so close to the trophey you can smell it, you have an owner like Cuban who with his sacks full of money will take the risks a firefighter would trying to snuff out a fire with a wad full of cash and blame anyone near him for it not working. Cuban needs to OWN up to his mistakes!More
I hope the Mavericks pursue a trade for Adam Morrison. He is still very young and has a lot of upside. It makes sense to go after himnow, his price wouldn't be that high right now. Would be the backup to Dirk we have been needing.
Laker Fans thought you did an outstanding job as Coach of the Dallas Mavericks. We love you. You are indeed a gentle man and scholar. Like my Youth Basketball Coach told us when no one expected us to get to the "Game" we did, we lost, we were devastated because we let everyone down. He said "well guys, you ain't gonna win them all and you ain't goning to lose them all. Sometimes you learn more from losing than winning. Kee…p your heads up and learn". Good luck in the future Coach!
p.s. The only thing Lakers fans were worried about if the Lakers had faced the Mavs, was, We hope Coach doesn't suit up, boy we would be in big trouble! (LOL) Much respect!More
I really don't understand the moves the team made why Jason Kidd when you had a young rising star in Devin Harris. If me I leave J Kidd in NJ I look over at the fire sale NY Knicks were having and I acquire Zack Randolph at my 4 position, play Dampier at 5 and I create a mismatch for teams with playing Dirk at the 3 Devin at the point and Josh H at 2. you then Have Flex to move Zack over to 5 and play Dirk back at the 4 you have Bass still coming off the bench, Stackhouse, Terry, George, Jones. Kidd was not needed All we needed was a dominate power foward we'd still be in playoffs.
