The best news I have heard in years regarding the Dallas Stars that I love and support is their signing of the amazing Joe Nieuwendyk as GM. Outstanding! Glad to see Hicks make this smart move. Joe is one of the classiest, most disciplined, smart, hard-working players ever to be on the Stars roster. He was the Conn Smythe Trophy winner when we won the Cup in 1999 for a reason. He was instrumental in us winning the cup. Uninformed or not very observant fans seem to only remember Hull's w…inning goal. Hello People, Joe was always an amazing player with the stars. He and Eddie Belfour were key reasons why we won the Stanley Cup. Yes, there were other great players but Joe's play and Eddie standing on his head....(hasn't been done in Dallas since) are why Dallas player's names are on the Cup!

Not only the Stars organization, but the metroplex are blessed indeed to have such a wonderful man back in our midst. I, season ticket holder and major fan of the sport of hockey in general, wish Joe Nieuwendyk every success and hope that some of the bad decisions of prior GM's don't hinder his job. It may take a while to get out from under bad long term contracts, etc. but give Joe a chance and we will be GREAT again, not just good but Great! Welcome, Joe. Thrilled to have you back. Folks, there have been two teams relinquish 3-0 series leads in Hocky history. 33 years apart. Detroit was first in 1942, then the Penquins did it in 1975. Both teams lost their game fours this week. Maybe we are on the verge of observing an incredible repeat of history? Let's hope so. Go Stars, Go Flyers!
