DWWvolume

by David Burton

This is an adaption of the volume control from my dwwsys. I know there is a lot of others, but none do all this:
• huge range of volumes
• real-time update (updates even if a different program or hardware changes the volume)
• vertical or horizontal orientation, both directions
• customisable - range of bar lengths and you choose the font and colour
• mute function
• use the speaker symbol to move it (no need for ctrl)
• bar autohides, leaving the controlable opacity percentage
• Autohid More

Sorry, i really am not a designer and have little ability on that front. I might give it another go, or if anyone wants to provide a new one...

I am sure i updated the version info - the text refers to version 2 but the version still say 1.15 :(

any comments on the new features?

Sorry, i have been busy with other RL things recently.
The current state is that it auto hides the bar when you move away from it. I intend to have a preference for that in the next version.
Don't know why you lose the speaker in vertical though, could it be off the screenwhen you change from horizontal?
It is also untested by me on Apple, so if anyone could let me know...

    Future release:
    - auto hide preference
    - when auto hide on and another program changes the volume, the bar will popup f More

When I set it to be vertical, I lose the speaker icon. I can see the color strip where I select the volume, but as soon as I click on another application, it disappears entirely. Why is that? The concept here is really good. Thanks.

It would be great if this widget had the option to NOT allow other applications to adjust the volume--keeping my AV Workstation calibrated with external hardware.
(I haven't found a volume controller that can do that in Windoze to this date.)

err, you click the bar and it changes the volume depending on where you click the bar. The range of values is huge, somewhere between about 100 and 200 depending on your choice of length.
The other point is that if you change the volume elsewhere (e.g. media keyboard buttons, other volume control software) the volume will also update here.
