Fangit :: Server Stats

by Daniel Guerrero

This small Widget allows you to check the load of a server and the uptime.
The stats are retrieved through a PHP script included in the download, which you must upload in your server. Enter the URL of the script in the Widget Preferences.

    Okay so i really liked this but I run freebsd, so I spent a little time making a script that will work with this widget. It makes much more sense and should run on *nix. You can get it at http://firepacket.net/stats.txt

    Just rename it to stats.cgi and point your server stats widget to this file instead of the php. It uses /bin/sh, top, and uptime to get the stats. (top takes about 2 seconds to pull the CPU states but I didnt know any other way to do it)

    I would really like more done with this widget! If anyone can improve or has a better replacement please email me at flameboy@firepacket.net

    I like the concept of this widget, but it is not unix-agnostic. Rather than parsing /proc for the data (a modern linux-ism), why don't you grab the data from the much more common 'uptime' binary available on modern systems? The format is consistent across FreeBSD, GNU/Linux (Kubuntu, Gentoo HPPA), Solaris, HP-UX, etc. I'd love to use this widget, but it simply will not work on my FreeBSD servers. If you would like some platforms to beta test on ... let me know. Cheers!

    Online is the time the server has been working without power outage or restarting.
    The load is how many resources in the system are busy (in CPU processing percent).

    I started this because I had to check a server frequently if it was online; and this allows me to check how many time the server is up without restart.

    And yes a multiple servers is a good idea; I will develop on that making more smaller and intuitive the interface.

    Thanks for comments and downloads.

    What does Online and Load really stand for? And it would be cool if it can check multiple servers, and then alternating them on the display.
