The concept of a flashcard is dead simple: write a question on the front, and an answer on the back. Flip through the cards enough times, and you should be able to memorize what is written on each card.
Flashcards is a Widget that emulates those paper cards.
The Widget comes with a data file containing a few hundred German words, but you can easily make your own data file. Learn those words for TOEFL, cram for that anatomy or botany exam, or learn new words and phrases in other languages.

yahooednai had to reinstall this on my Mac and now cannot find the built-in file "deutsch_english.txt". The sample you had listed is no longer available, correct? I wanted to use it as the base to build my own.
Am happy that there's no longer the bug that made the shuffle to misfunction, though.

November 16, 2007 · version 1.5 WaldoExcellent! I'm using this to learn Chinese, and I've easily created files showing hanzi (Chinese characters) to pinyin (phonetic translation)/English. Both hanzi and pinyin have peculiar fonts, and so long as I save the file as Unicode there are no problems. I just create my file using Open Office, and save as encoded text. November 16, 2007 · version 1.5 yahooednaWhen I first downloaded it, I found it to be a great Widget and used it quite often. However, with the new Yahoo! Widgets Update for version 4, there seems to be a bug in it. Not only the "shuffle" or "refresh" button in the flashcards no longer functions, but also it makes the whole thing to disappear when you click on it. This was very disappointing.

November 16, 2007 · version 1.5 AnyrI have tried to create my own cards but it won't create more than one card, I put two lines of text but it only made one card and with only the first line's text. Very weird.
