You can only use this practically if you already know that languages alphabet and the pronunciation. Russian, for example, is pretty useless because it uses their alphabet and doesn't transpose phonetically to how we would write how they say it.

Twould be nice if you could actually find something like that though.

I tried it out-- for Portuguese (I'm an American, living in Portugal). I was immediately suspicious when I noticed that, when I was invited to "Pick a language to Practice:", the word "Portuguese" was spelled Porguguese. Not a good sign. Then the "Widget size" control, while offering a variety of sizes from 'Full Screen' to 'Super Small', gave me a 'Large' widget, no matter which size I chose.
The killer, though, was the transla…tion. The first word that came up was in English "communication". The game's Portuguese translation was "comunicación". Unfortunately, the Portuguese word for "communication" is "comunicação"-- "comunicación" is Spanish, not Portuguese (and it's the same in both Continental and Brazilian Portuguese, so that's not the issue).
This is a great idea, and I hope that Mr. Heilman works the bugs out. I didn't check out the other languages, but until this Widget first spells "Portuguese" correctly, and then actually uses Portuguese and not Spanish, I'm afraid that this is not just not particularly useful, but could actually teach a novice incorrect information about Portuguese.
