Gas prices are rising, but you dont need to feel the pain. The Gas Alert Savings (GAS) Widget from Automotive.com will help you find the lowest gas prices in your area.
You're right! I put in my Zip code, and it won't save it ... it just keeps saying my Zip or the distance is invalid. I tried 5, 10, 15, and 20 mile radius, and it just keeps saying my Zip or the distance is invalid.
Worse than that, when I installed it, it took the liberty of downloading other Yahoo widgets ... clock, weather, etc.
There is nothing worse than these spammers who tell you they are going to download one thing, and then fill your desktop with other crap you didn't ask for.
I just realized that I had updated my yahoo widget engine this week from 4.3 to 4.5 and just remembered that when updating the engine can have an effect on the widgets. I just wish I had set a restore point before I updated the widget engine cause now I'll have to do it the hard way (uninstall 4.5 - reinstall 4.3) to see if it fixed it. I also updated my windows xp service pack 2 (sp2) to service pack 3 (sp3) I just hope it's not the monkey wrench that flubbed up the works. Hope this info is helpful.
I had this widget working the other day and with it I saved about twenty dollars, that was two weeks ago. Now, what ever changes were made to this widget caused the ( max miles) to read 0 instead of 18. This is what it's showing me next to miles radius (max 0 miles) and it says Invalid Zip / Distance when I try to save the settings. I see others here are having the same issue. Please let us know when the widget will be back up and running. I'm giving the widget a 5 because it was working great in the past and I know fixing one issue can create another, I understand. Thank You
Every time I launch this Widget it takes me to the settings Window and no matter what zip code I enter and/or what mile radius I enter, I get the error message "Invalid Zip/Distance" and it never lets me out of the settings Window. I hear they have this thing called "bug testing" before you offer software for use.
This widget has what I think is a better approach to finding gas prices in that it gets data from credit card transactions (fleet purchases) and so should be more accurate and comprehensive than the widgets which use volunteer reports. Too bad it doesn't work!
Same report as previous reviewers... when invoked, it keeps you trapped on the settings screen, and no matter what zip/mileage you enter it says "invalid zip/miles". Totally useless!
