Those of you suggesting that we pause consumption for one day or one month are not thinking this thing through...let's assume it DOES result in lower prices for a day or two (because of the decreased demand.) However, what happens the next day...or month...when everyone needs to fill their tank up? Fuel is something that we are going to need EVENTUALLY...if you delay your need, you are simply shifting the demand variable to another day and making it much higher than average.

Nice thought, but it won't work...

Welcome to the real world, folks! Except for newly successful economies like like India and China, the rest of the world has paid high prices for gas. Why do you think we're the only country dumb enough to encourage soccer moms to drive their kids to school in Suburbans and young studs drive around in Hummers?

Since part of the price of gas has to do with world supply and demand, we're not going to see many changes. I doubt if India and China, who are just starting to share the wealth, More

It's simple, so even you simple minded people should understand. USE LESS gas. Easiest way to do that is to SLOW DOWN. Driving the speed limit will drop your consumption by almost 10%. Even the entire US driving population used 10% less gas, the price would drop dramatically. Even today with gas at $4.50/gal, I watch big pickup trucks going 70mph on the highway. Maybe now that the prices will keep going up people will wake up and stop wasting fuel.

Gas prices were at $.99 a gallon in 2001 - so to see that spike to $4 a gallon now is alarming.

#1 Any exported item, corn (or other food items), should be $130 dollars per bushell.
Let them try to eating some of that oil instead of vegetables.
#2 We have to have gas....Instead of not buying it for one day everyone needs to get together and not buy gas from a certain company (like Exxon) for a month or untill they drop their gas prices back down. If after a month they are not dropping continue the boycout until it does. Then we move on to another company when the first complies or is out of business
