V 1.2 of the Grandfather Clock widget has issues in Windows: (1) The options don't actually take effect (most of them). (2) If running and you "Exit Yahoo! Widgets", the widget engine bounces back to life and will not exit until you first close the grandfather clock widget, often leading to an ungraceful exit of the widget engine. (3) The sounds do not work. (4) Will sometimes cause other widgets to be hidden unexpectedly. There are enough annoyances that it's not worth my time.
It crashes the yahoo widget engine and tries to introduce other unvanted widget called helper.
Behaves like a virus, stops win xp from functioning properly. This widget should be removed.
Virus behaving widgets shoulldnt be available for download. Whay kind of company is this?
I removed yahoo widgets completely from my system. Discusting expirience with your software.
After this you are on my ban list.
1) I have not heard of my widget crashing the Widget engine before. If this is the case then please contact me at the email address located in the about box for the widget (right click on the widget and select "About Grandfather Clock".
2) There is an option that reduced CPU usage on the "Appearance" preference page that if checked overrides other appearance settings.
3) If you have problems with the Widget, please post an issues you have here - but also contact me that the email address mentioned above so I can help work out the issues and make the Widget better.
Grandfather clock in no ways acts like a virus. The second widget is included within the first because of a sound playback limitation in the Windows version of the Yahoo! Widget Engine (it is not possible to play two sounds at the same time). The only thing the "helper" widget does is play the tick-tock sounds if that option is enabled.
You say it doesnt act like a virus. Well if i try to close widget engine it starts multiple yahoo widget engines, more than 10. Task manager becomes overwhelmed with yahoo widget engines, xp starts to choke, multiple send error reports appear together with multiple notes about grandfathers clock helper asking to move itself from one folder to my widgets folder. If computer was sheduled to turn off on specific time it wannt because your widget requires end task to be done manualy before turn off.… And you say this is not virus like behavior? Honestly your clock is the only reason i installed engine (biggest compliment), my anger comes from inability to have that clock working normally which it simply DOES NOT. Kill that stupid helper program, meny of us are not interested in seconds ticking alltogether.More
