I really liked it before. I will again when the bug with turning the sounds on and off are fixed.
I agree that the new version is not silencing at the scheduled time like it is supposed to do. Version 1.2 did that.
There are a few additional nit picks though: 1) When you switch volume levels of the ticking between normal and quiet (and visa-versa), you hear both volumes until you close the widget. (Switching to/from off takes place immediately.) 2) I would prefer that Roman Numeral IV be the default (optimized), but it may be that IIII is more authentic. 3) The sound, especially the spoken… voice, sounds rather artificial to me. 4) It does not have any setting to make it autostart with the widget engine or windows, but it should be easy enough to create a shortcut for the widget file in the start menu folder. (I haven't played with auto-starting widgets, yet.)
But these are just tiny nitpicks. The big one is that it isn't silencing at the scheduled time anymore.
Note: The old version (1.2) kept saying it was the most recent version when I had it check to see if there was an update available. It looks that that feature is provided by the widget engine now.More
If you go to the widget preferences and select the 'Sounds' tab, there is an option called 'Play second ticks:' change that setting to 'Off' and the ticking will go away without changing any of the other sounds.
