Both are excellent utilities- they do what they say they do, they both have well formatted displays, they give clear instructions on set-up and use. The ony problem with them is they both appear to have been set to assume an "always on" Internet connection - as do many/most other widgets.

When the user makes a choice as to favourite shows, record a specific show, record a series etc. it is natural that these changes be instantly transmitted to the host. Unfortunately both widgets attempt to access the internet at times of their own choosing, for example to see if the EPG downloaded 4 hrs ago is still current. This would be OK if they only did it when the internet is connected (current dial-up or DSL session etc) but they attempt to connect repeatedly.

After repeated failures an error message says to check connection settings. When the widgets fail to access the 'net they appear to freeze and may not re-activate even after a subsequent session is established. I would suggest that a dialogue box allows the user to set when the internet is to be accessed.

Knowing the above I would still download and use both both widgets if I had not already. I have not rated as a "Marry me" only because that seems too kinky

This version (v 1.02) is out of date so it won't work. You have to get a working version from their site(> v1.22) until the version here is updated (well that's my experience). Then it will go well with any pc setup as a tv.

Gavin, if your free account is showing as expired, then please create another one at icetv.com.au/registerwidget.

The widget is definitely free for the 1 day guide.

But if it did give me the 1 updated day all the time it might remind me to subscribe to their service when I start using a Vista PC as a Media Center next year

I thaught it was way better but it says the 1 Day subscription is free but today it decided since I was out of my trial it would just tell me that it has expired.

    Liars!!!!!!!!!!!!
