@giginyc0620: This widget uses system sounds by default to alert you when it has updated. Unfortunately with Yahoo's new security methods the only way to access those sounds is to grant the widget full access. I understand your concern, and I assure you that this is the only way the widget uses any files on your computer. We will look into the possibility of packaging a sound file in the widget itself in order to avoid this issue in the next release.

Again, I assure you the widget is completely safe to use. Yahoo! has verified and approved it.

When this widget finished downloading and the permissions screen came up asking whether I wanted to run or close the widget, I noticed a yellow triangular icon with an exclamation point in the bottom left corner with a message saying "Unrestricted access to files on your computer". When I clicked the link titled "More Widget Details" and then clicked the link titled "Restrictions", I quickly discovered that there is no way to change the attributes of this widget so… that its ability to access my files is limited. If I may be so bold, I utterly fail to understand why this widget supposedly needs to have "unrestricted access to files on my computer" in order to operate! More
