Choosing Close Widget should work. Also clicking on the red close button in the upper left corner of the widget frame. It has been tested on 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 on Intel and PowerPC with Y!WE 4.0.3.

That you are having trouble quitting a Yahoo! authored widget as well indicates to me that there is something wrong with your system. I suggest you go to the Widget pull-down menu and select Quit Yahoo! Widgets. After it has quit start it again (it is in the Applications folder) and see if the widgets are behaving correctly.

How do I get this sucker to quit? Mac OS X (10.4.10). Right-clicking and choosing wither “Close Widget” or “Hide Widget” yields no response. (I’m seeing the same on the Yahoo! Widget Gallery Widget)

    anonymous,

When you download a Widget (any YWE! Widget, not just this one) you should put it into the default Widget folder. You shouldn't have to re-download the widget unless the WIdget folder is being rewritten in some way by some external process that removes the Widget you downloaded. If you have YWE! configured to start when you login then any widgets that were open when you logged out should automatically reopen. There is nothing about this Widget that would interfere with that process.

    Regards.

To disable the link to the website open the preferences (ctrl-click or right-click on the widget and select Widget Preferences... from the context menu that appears), then click on the "Open Website Options" icon which is the second icon from the left. In the "Open station website with mouse" pull down menu you can select single-click, double-click, or never. Select never to prevent going to the website entirely. To disable the G key from opening the website check the "Disable G/g key" checkbox. Then click the OK button to save your preferences.
