iPod Video Converter

by Michael Struck

Using VLC (http://videolan.org) seems to be the fastest and best way to convert video files to an iPod Video-compatible format.

The only thing this Widget does is call VLC with right parameters to convert your video file. After entering the paths to VLC and the output folder in the preferences, just drop any video file on the Widget and conversion is started. That's it!

Of course, VLC has to be installed to make the Widget work. ;-)

will B, the ipod's one and only video format (i think) is MP4. the zunes can work with MP4.
if you've noticed, when u put almost any kind of video on the zune it converts it anyways...
    i hope this helps.

If any of you has problems converting a video, *report it to VLC developers, not to the widget author*! He has nothing to do with the conversion process itself. All the widget does is call VLC to do all the hard work.

Also, make sure you have the latest version of VLC ("Check for updates" on the Help menu).

VLC opens during 1 sec and then nothing happens

    hello,
i could open the widget, drag and drop a file to convert (i tested with multiple formats)
but, when i drop the file, i can see VLC open for no more than 1 second, and nothing happens
i have run the "set to defaults" VLC command, no progress
    my VLC 0.8.6.c works fine
i would love to rate it, but it does not work :(

    How's it work?

At first glance, it looks to be a good tool, but after I discovered that it won't actually work, though I've installed VLC and even this widget-thing specifically for this purpose, I'm rather let down. Maybe the author should make an FAQ, because I see a fair number of people who've got the same problem. How'd you all figure it out, or did you give it up?
