i think minty is talking about the kanji shown here, which means love, not literally that kanji means love.

You get the translation when you pick the different display kanji. They are listed by meaning when you select the clock face. If the English translation was always visible, it would look a bit junky on the clock. And remember, a kanji can have many meanings too. By the way, "kanji" means "written character", not "love". The picture featured here is how "love" (or "ai") is written in the traditional form.
