I think the way the widget works is to download the file you have entered into the widget and if the file is not available then it shows the url not working. If you link to a massive file then it will download it every five minutes. I expect the widget is for linking to web pages not large files. I use it to monitor my web sites.

To Bill: What time interval hae you got set for KonStat to check? What page on your site are you checking?

Works, but uses quite a bit of bandwidth!! After 3 days it used over 1 gig of bandwith on my site!

Thanks to everybody who has downloaded or rated my widget. I admit I've been a bit slack in updating it (hadn't even read the comments in 2 months), but in the next week or so, I'll update the widget. Many thanks to Xorcist for figuring out the bug. The changes Xorcist has made will be incorporated into the next version. It's really great to see other people using my widget, and I'm sorry to everyone else (and me) that I haven't fixed it yet (I won't be lazy ever agai…n, I promise!). The next version will hopefully have most of the features people are asking for too.

It would be great to have a "notify" option to send an email if the site goes away for a selected number of checks (1+). An audible "notify" for the desktop also would be nice.
