LED Banner

LED Banner gives you a scrolling LED Banner on your desktop. You can have your own messages, customize the LED and border colors, and resize the length and height of the banner. You can enter a text in the preferences or specify a text file or any number of RSS URLs to be used as the source of the banner text.

Nick Normal: Versions 1.4 and 1.5 may be overtaken by version 1.6, to be submitted soon. Version 1.6 has options to ask for RSS Item Titles Only, to cycle through the RSS feeds in turn, and to set the maximum number of items to be displayed from an RSS feed. It also has a facility for the user to save the preferences (including RSS locations) to file and to restore them from file. We've also improved the code that removes "junk" from the displayed items.

Harry and Barnett,

compliments on what I think is one of the most-exciting yahoo widgets around right now.
i'm really looking forward to version 1.4 of the widget. This widget has come pretty far pretty fast and I look forward to follow its development.
Any chance of making a donation to your efforts also? A small pittance no doubt but maybe worth a pint for the each of ya.

Future Plans: V 1.4 will have an embedded helper widget which will download any single RSS feed to a file, which can then be displayed by LED Banner. V 1.4 can also display Hiragana and Katakana Unicode text (but not CJK ideographs).

V 1.5 will give the users the ability to have a directory of RSS locations and to display RSS feeds without the use of the helper widget.

We do not intend to build any RSS URLs into the widget, as they continually change.
