Two suggestions for upcoming versions:
1. A click on the stamp icon should not only bring Mail.app to the front but also open the main window.
2. If possible, the icon should be changeable.
I rated it early, so I cut the flattering.

It finally works for me too, after the 2nd bugfix release... ;P
There's still the problem that common timeout errors are displayed on non-english systems though. Hope you'll fix this with the next release.
Anyway, very cool widget!

I gave this widget a 4-star rating because it (1) works on my computer, and (2) does what it's supposed to do--that is: be unobtrusive, yet informative at the same time.
My suggestion for improvement: Create a way to make the widget check a POP 3/IMAP server, rather than relying on Mail to be open. I understand how the widget works; that is, it checks the Inbox for new messages that have been downloaded. However, it would be helpful to not have to leave the Mail.app open all day long.
Ide…ally, we'd like a small widget that hides in the background (as yours does), constantly checking our mailboxes at the server level, and then alerting us when there's new mail to download.
None of the current widgets/programs that check mail at the server level are up to par, in my opnion. If your widget did that, I think it's be stellar.More
