This shows you flash cards for Mandarin Chinese. You can randomly view ideograms and words (Simpl. Trad. Pinyin, English). Contains a memory game to exercise, the free CEdict dictionary and a category editor.
I like the program, but i hardly use it, because my pc doesn't always display cn characters. i have instalad cn language for windows and it shows in word or in ie, firefox, but not in programs in menu and so. Please, help me solve that! Thanks
First, this is a great widget! I'm using it to keep already learned characters fresh as I study Chinese. I'm currently using Tuttle's "Learning Chinese Characters" and have created categories with the words for each chapter. I have a few questions/suggestions:
1) Even though I already deleted the category lists you'd created so that only my lists remain, the flashcard feature continues showing characters I never entered. Is there a way to fix this? I have created two l…ists (chapters 1 and 2) so far, but if I go to settings, then logic, then area, it only offers the options of showing all ideograms or chapter 1's ideograms. Chapter 2 isn't even on the list, and the only categories that show in regular category view now are the ones I've created. This is a bit frustrating, so any help would be appreciated!
2) I think it's been suggested and may be in the works, but it would be great if we could add our own definitions. The method I'm using to study characters relies on specific words to trigger stories which remind me of the meaning, tone, etc, so this would be a great option to have!
Overall - this is a great widget, and I heartily recommend it to everyone studying Chinese!More
Great idea, but I'd like to see a few changes. It was hard to get started and it's cumbersome to have to input into the search field, copy the simplified, and then add it to the category list. A manual would definitely help. It would be also cool if there was some interfacing where you could input pinyin and then select from a list to add to the category list. Also, since I'm a student in a Chinese class, I'd like the ability to actually manually input all the information on …the card, like select the words from the search but then type in our own meaning. This way, we'd be able to make cards for phrases that aren't in the dictionary that this draws from.
Other than that, it's a pretty great widget! Thanks!More
