Perfect for stargazers and amateur astronomers, this Widget keeps track of eleven of the most spectacular meteor showers visible throughout the year, and notifies you when they are active. No Internet connection is needed.
I love gazing into the night sky...it's both relaxing & stimulating at the same time. With this widget I can be sure I'll not miss any meteor activity again. THANKS.
Hi, thanks for the comments.
To yoonminn, you don't need to worry about your locality - I live in Australia! The best time to observe any meteor shower is around dawn, regardless of your location. This is because at dawn your location on Earth is rotating into the debris that causes the showers, so it doesn't matter if your night is someone else's day. Also, you'll notice that dates are not exact - showers don't have a clean beginning and end, so the exact date isn't that… important.
Also, meteors tend to radiate from their radiant constellation, so if that constellation isnt visible, you probably won't see much, e.g. here in the Southern Hemisphere Ursa Minor isnt visible, so I dont expect to see much during the Ursids shower. A planisphere or star-charting program will be able to tell you whats visible.
So, in short, as long as you can see the radiant constellation and the date is right, you should have as much chance as anyone else (especially arounMore
