OK, I booted my system this morning and the performance monitor reappeared. As I mentioned in the 1st post, the HD is an external Firewire drive that powers down when not in use. Does this power down mode cause the monitor to disappear? I leave the drive hooked up all the time.
Add on comment to the previous post. I forgot to check the number of stars. Sorry. Also, I tried 2.2 and 2.3 and in both versions, I lost the performance monitor.
I like it for monitoring the HD activity (Performance Monitoring), but on one of my drives, the Performance Monitor disappeared. It is a Firewire External drive. When I set it up a few days ago, the checkbox for the Performance Monitor option existed. Now, the monitor does not get diaplayed and the checkbox is gone. Is this a "feature" of monitoring external drives? I'd like to get it back, if possible.
A nice feature would be to have the LED on the icon itself flash instead of th…e separate Performance Monitor icon. I ike that it tells you read/write activity, but because it is separate from the disk drive icon, it takes a lot of desktop real estate. It would be nice if the drive icon flashed the red and green on the drive icon itself.
