Displays the National Geographic Picture of the Day on your desktop. A description of the image is available in a slide out text area that can be positioned on any side of the Widget. April 30, 2006 · version 2.0 WaleedHey Mark. I just downloaded this and tried running it - but it "was unable to load itself successfully"...? After running it from the My Widgets folder, I got the usual 'use only if from trusted source' message, then the frame loaded, but immediately I got an error, "National_Geographic_Picture_of_the_Day was unable to load itself successfully"
What's wrong?

The answer is -it should run on Mac. There was a problem with 2.0 in that it would fail to run on systems where a previous version had not been run before. Version 2.1 is awaiting approval for upload and fixes this issue, so it should then be back to being both Mac and Windows compatible - I hope!

April 25, 2006 · version 1.2 Mark - authorI am working on the formatting issues, there is some weird interaction between the widget engine and NG's HTML encoding. I'll release 1.3 as soon as I fix this, or maybe Yahoo release an update to Y!WE 3.1.1 which is reported to fix some encoding issues.
Version 2 will completely revamp the frame handling, and will make the slide out info panel repositionable. The code is common with all my other POD widgets.
I need to fix the text issues first though - they are driving me up the wall, the same formatting code works perfectly with other websites.
