love the clock but hate the EVERYDAY notices that there is a new version-download it?

Neon Clock is one of the most popular and oldest widgets around. It was built before the engine even had any security protocols. It is our belief that the current "security" of the Yahoo engine doesn't provide much value at all and the entire widget can be opened and the source code viewed BY ANYONE.

It does access the internet at startup and once a day to check to see if there are any new versions available. This can be turned off by the user in the preferences. it …also reads… files from the filesystem for the alarm files. So, there you go. You have the information you need:

- You need to assume any app you run on your computer has full access
- Unlike most apps, you have full access to source code if you so desire
- There are areas where the widget needs file access
- Neon clock was developed before there were any security protocols at all

Not trying to sound paranoid but...Why does it need unrestricted access to files on my computer?

Seems the 'no glow' features does not function so well and I can't seem to find the 'off'' button for the alarms. When one goes off it keeps sounding until I close the widget.
