KNY33: To hide NewsStand, or any widget, simply right click and choose "Hide Widget". That will put it in the heads-up display only mode but you can quickly see it again by clicking the icon in widget dock. Hope that helps!

eric37200: That's a bug in the Yahoo Gallery and Yahoo Widget Engine. I would suggest you click on "Widget history" and manually download the update. Just close the existing NewsStand widget, overwrite it with the new one, and then start it up again.

    Buono: Glad you like it.

The NewsStand can be resized by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner of the widget where the lines are located. It gets very small if you do that (8 lines of text). You can also resize the feed pane versus the article pane by clicking and dragging that bar between them. Finally, if you use the open try for viewing the descriptions, you can also click and drag the left edge to resize the tray.

Try using the RSS Ticker Tape instead...

This newsstand widget is a pretty good idea but a little flaky and sometimes frustrating to use. I have been using the RSS ticker tape for years now. It is mature, reliable, and very stable. I like that it doesn't take up very much room on my desktop. I have it docked on the bottom of my screen :)
