Cougron: Thanks for the feedback and the suggestions. As you can appreciate, we cannot be all things to all people. Each widget has it's advantages and disadvantages and what you love someone else hates and what they love, you hate.

We have followed a common well known approach feed management. Feeds in the left column, articles in the right. We have, as you pointed out, three different ways to view the article information before opening it in a web browser.

Regarding your comments: … Adding a link to the tray is not a big deal but the current concept is simpler and requires much less mouse movement. You click to see article description and you click again if youa re interested in opening it. The feed title is available both in the feed pane (assuming it is open) and in the article pane. Not sure where else it really needs to be.

We might consider a tray that opens on the left we would need more people requesting it to make it worth our time. We do offer an auto-hide of the article feeds but not of the whole widget. That is likely to cause confusion for most people and not be all that valuable since you don't want to put other things in that spot anyways.

Great widget. I have it on a couple of my machines. It keeps on prompting me to update (on both machines). When I do that, it still registers as 1.2 and re-prompts. Other than that, I have no complaints.
How do you get the panel shown above to appear on the Right Hand Side?

If you are having problems download and running the latest version (and keep getting the message that says there is a new version), the best thing to do is:

1) Go to the dock, right click, and delete the widget
2) Come back here and download the most recent widget

There is a BUG in the Engine / Gallery site that causes this problem. There is nothing we can do to prevent the bug. Only other option is to disable the notice in the preferences of the widget but then you may not get updated versio…ns and bug fixes.

As for the pull-out tray, it is in the preferences panel once you complete the upgrade. More

I am afraid if I delete my old version, that it will delete my RSS feeds. Anyway around this?

However, if you are concerned about this, another approach instead of deleting the widget is to close it, go to your widget folder, rename NewsStand (say to NewsStand 1.2) and then download the latest version manually from the "Widget History" tab (right above these postings). Save it to your widget folder and then open it and you should be all set. As an FYI, version 1.25 comes with the ability to import and export feeds which should help lower any such concerns in the future since you could always export your feeds before any changes are made.
