NewsTicker

This Widget will display news headlines in a scrolling ticker, similar to those seen on buildings in Times Square, NYC.

The ticker is movable, sizable, and capable of displaying multiple news-feeds. Clicking on a headline in a feed takes you directly to the news story selected. Also included is an option to pause the ticker and pop up a brief description when the cursor hovers over a headline.

new version of widget engine means you now have to click right on the text, not near it, not in between the letters, not even inside a capital "D" or "O" -- grrr

otherwise this is the best widget available, hands down

Peter, while you were asleep at the wheel "RSS Ticker Tape" just became my favorite News ticker. Sorry, but I was completely sold on their text-to-speech feature. They also improved on their Stock Ticker as well and it works perfectly with all the features I wanted so ignore my previous suggestion about creating a stock ticker.

Its awesome. Its really easy to use now that I just figured how to work this whole RSS Feed thing. All I need me is something to get me some podcasts.

Works pretty well for me. It does use a lot of CPU, though. I mean a LOT. Just putting the font on full size really does a number on it.

Great widget, I use it daily - I actually have spawn a few of these to display different types of news such as top stories, business, sports, entertainment, etc. By far the best ticker widget - great design, great style, great features.
Peter, can you develop a ticker to display stock quotes and index prices using all the great features in your news ticker? Another stock ticker widget in this gallery is too much of a CPU hog, besides I love your ticker the best.
