NPR Addict

For you NPR addicts out there, you can use this Widget to select an NPR program by date to stream via Windows Media or RealPlayer on Windows or Mac. There are several other public radio streams and archives that are added over time (e.g., CarTalk, A Prairie Home Companion, and others).

Note: this Widget does not play the streams, in simply invokes your audio player to do so.

As an NPR listener this is so totally useful! Simple, rock-solid...the perfect little app for accessing NPR archives. Makes "impulse listening" much easier...how am I going to get any work done now?

Fixes:
- Correct problem at beginning of the month when no date exists for the program; default to prior month instead.
- Fix rare case when a program is unselected that the date/play controls would not be re-hidden.

I didn't add Cartalk yet because I am not sure I have figured out the link for pulling up old Cartalks. When I figure it out, I will add it.

At your request, I am giving some thought to a "compact" mode... I don't know if it will make it into the next release, but I'm sure it will come, eventually. (The next release will replace the MediaPlayer/RealPlayer buttons with a single play button, among other things).

Thanks for adding "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me" in version 0.2!

Two suggestions for the next revision:

1) Please add Car Talk (from www.cartalk.com)

2) Can you make the widget smaller? For instance, you could make the NPR logo smaller, and then have the program list next to it, instead of below, and display it as a drop-down list instead of a scrolling list. I do like the idea of hiding the date/format until needed.

New features in version 0.2:
* Mac support! (let me know)
* Hide controls until they are relevant.
* Windows Media Player button image is now displayed locally (to avoid prior problems).
* Add "Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me" program.
