For you NPR addicts out there, you can use this Widget to select an NPR program by date to stream via Windows Media or RealPlayer on Windows or Mac. There are several other public radio streams and archives that are added over time (e.g., CarTalk, A Prairie Home Companion, and others).
Note: this Widget does not play the streams, in simply invokes your audio player to do so.

I just checked... Car Talk is having some problems--I could not even get to their audio from their web site! Car Talk is a bit of a weird bird. They only make their most recent show available. My widget expects that shows stay posted once they are available, so the older dates for Car Talk will probably not be valid.

November 16, 2007 · version 0.9cGreat Widget, especially with Version 0.8a upgrade (had used older versions)! Still running into problem despite release notes for Version 0.8a (may be a Real Player problem). For Car Talk (only Real Player, no MS Media Player option), for any date selected, I get a repeating RealPlayer error message (until shutdown or crash) for ANY episode date:

November 16, 2007 · version 0.9c BillWell, we should almost be past the bug that some people are incurring... not able to open the widget, this new year. The problem arises when the widget was closed last year on a program that does not yet have an episode this year. When the widget is reopened and there is no new episode yet this year, it crashes!
Shame on me. I apologize for the inconvenience. I won't have time to fix it very quickly as I usually do, but you can get around it by deleting the registry entries related to the… More
