Page Scraper

Sometimes a web site has just one piece of information you find interesting or want to keep track of (without having to constantly start your browser and visit the site). You could write your own custom Widget, or, if you're up to the challenge of using Regular Expressions, this simple tool can save you the trouble.

Regular Expressions are NOT for the faint of heart. If you're not an experienced computer programmer, please think twice before trying to use this Widget. Even programme More

Thanks for the feedback. I'll add your feature request to the Wiki wish list...it's a good idea, but I don't have tons of free time right now. When I get sometime, I'll take a look at the list and see what's what.

Thanks Chris! Your widget helped me quickly get what i wanted without having to write a widget on my own! :)

I did struggle with the regular expression though - and Harry's Scraper103 came in handy to figure it out.

A feature request: Could you make the Page Scraper multiline? Currently - it displays only one line of text. Making it multiline would allow resizing it to a rectangle - occupying a corner on the desktop rather than a long line across the desktop.

    Thanks! This is great :)

There are three basic error codes: Unknown -- Couldn't find a match, Parse Error -- Problem performing the match (probably the regex is invalid for the app), and Unreachable -- Received a non 200/OK response code for the provided URL...could mean either the site itself is down, the URL itself is invalid, or your internet connection is down.

Yes, the site at the URL you provided does appear to work...so long as you understand it's output. I can't help you with any error messages that site may give you however. I personally use a RegEx Tester from within the Eclipse IDE (eclipse.org) to help build the expressions I use. However, the web site you referenced seems like it could be helpful to the average user.
