Widget does not appear of Vista desktop ... such a pity

One more tip; I'm using Yahoo Widgets 4.5.1 (build 10A39), the file version (when viewing the properties of widgetus.exe install file) is 2007.12.12.01.

This is the last version I found to work with all the widgets I like, which many-of, now don't work with the latest version. It's also worth to note that this older version works with many of the new widgets I've tried. So for the time being there is many upwards compatibility with the this old version, whereas there is less do…wnwards compatibility with the new version.

Where do you get the older widgetus.exe? Not sure, but I've archived previous versions dating back to early 2006. This paid off (taking into account security enhancements may be the compromise).

Why did I go through all this trouble? Simply because I've learned many things from the past are often not updated for the present and future, favoring more to be obsoleted. Well, that's fine for some, but not for me. I like the mixture of both, and that's what I got.

And for that matter, is the reason I rate Yahoo Widgets a 5 Star overall. WindowsXP without it is like a Sundae without any toppings...it's just plain ice cream.

Woops disregard my post on how to make this work. My Yahoo widgets just upgraded yet again to version 4.5.1, and now this Radio Tuner widget no longer shows up on WinXP desktop. The newer engine has finally nuked this classic widget!

However, iSurf continues to work if you follow my steps outlined in the previous post.

See...Newer is always not better, that's why it pays to archive older versions of applications rather than delete them.

Yahoo widgets in general is not well refined, but hey it's free. iSurf widgets stopped working as well, but if you install an old old version of the Yahoo Widgets engine, load iSurf, and then upgrade (don't uninstall pervious) to new 4.5 version, iSurf works again!

The same technique worked for me for Radio Tuner. It's a weird quirk of the Widget engine. I learned this cause I have many PC's and questioned why it works on some and not others, being that all are using the same version! The answer was how I upgraded each. Enjoy.

The widget shows up in the dock but there is no visible widget on the desktop. doesn't work at all.
