RSS Reader

by Brent Johnson

This is a generic RSS and Atom feed reader. It allows the user to toggle between RSS feeds via the right-click menu, add new feeds, edit feeds, remove
feeds, search feeds, set user-defined fonts, modify Widget width, change theme colors, and more. See README.txt and CHANGELOG.txt for details.

Kato: I was driving myself nuts until I actually viewed that RSS feed. Whoever runs that site is including actual HTML tags in the title but by using HTML entities. They are outputting <b> in the title which gets converted to <b>. Well, the widget is designed to convert HTML entities to whatever they should be, and in this case it's the lessthan and greaterthan characters.

I don't think this is a bug in the case of the rss.seek.com.au feed. If I view this feed in an RSS Reader like Mozilla Thunderbird, it does the same and appears as <b> </b>.

Could someone post a RSS URL that shows the HTML in the description? I remember seeing it once or twice but not lately. I've rewritten the code that cleans up the HTML code for version 2.0. If I can get a URL I can push the 2.0 cleanup code into a 1.3.4 version.

I've tried the other top rated rss readers (e.g MultiNewsReader), and while aesthetically cute-- This one is superior. I prefer only viewing one specific feed at a time and not having a bunch of feeds visible and I can expland/contract-- but being able to see the rest via right click. The functionality, the ability to change fonts for different RSS feeds, and most importantly the READABILITY makes this the best rss reader out there.

Features that would make this app nearly perfect in my eye More

    Brent-

Have used RSS Feeds for many months now; it is a well-thought out and useful RSS Aggregator. From time to time, I look at others, but have always found that your layout, flexibility and convenience are superior.

Have developed a problem recently, and I'm not sure if its RSS Feeds or my machine- when I click on a headline to see the summary, I also see the XML (?) characters and instructions, such as <p><a href="http... ><img. Any ideas why this might be happening?

Many thanks again for the widget, and for your thoughts.
