It's great. I also had the problem with it disappearing. For me, the disappearance was linked to certain settings of the "text size" slider on the Appearance tab of the Simple Text Clock preferences panel. When this slider is too far to the right, the clock vanishes. Further, it seems to vary depending on which font you've selected. Arial, the default, only appears when the slider is within the leftmost 10 ticks or so. Other fonts are still visible for the leftmost 17 tic…ks.

Basically, it's trial and error, finding a combo of font and font size that you like that doesn't cause the clock to vanish. Further, once the clock vanishes, you (obviously) can't click on the clock to adjust the slider, so select "simple text clock" from the "widget preferences" entry on the konfabulator menu in the system tray. Just keep moving the slider until the clock reappears.

I love the simple text clock. It's great because it's not obtrusive like many of the others. One bug that I've seen is that when you switch display resolution it doesn't keep its relative spot on the screen like most other widgets. I have a laptop and keep my clock near the upper right corner of the screen. Whenever I reduce my resolution for connecting to an external projector, the clock keeps its original origin and thus displays off screen.
