Just a couple more comments....

Credit to thesimpsonsquotes.com was clearly given both on the download page and in the about box of the widget, and was also displayed with a mouseover of the quote text.

Regarding "hammering my machine", this widget has turned out to be far more popular than I anticipated, due mostly to version 2.1 of Konfabulator being free. I did not, and could not, anticipate either that change or the associated level of popularity.

And just to reiterate …it again... The script was specifically public, and I DID write to ask for collaboration on the widget. By the same token, thesimpsonsquotes.com could have contacted me sometime in the last 11 days to work something out proactively. That door swings both ways.

I never criticized thesimpsonsquotes.com DB. I only lamented the fact that I wasn't in control of the content, so I couldn't help the user who asked. It was the user's concern, not mine. I have always thought thesimpsonsquotes.com is a great site, and really does a good job of meeting the need it's intending to meet.

We're still in the process of resurrecting the server. Please wait until tomorrow to hit the server.

Note to everyone:

DO NOT DOWNLOAD VERSION 1.0 ANYMORE.

Version 1.1 is in the queue for approval, and takes the load off thesimpsonsquotes.com. If you're still using v1.0, please update when it goes live and let thesimpsonsquotes.com have some breathing room.

To make one thing perfectly clear, I DID contact thesimpsonsquotes.com before releasing the widget and received no response. Since the widget hits their random quotes script like any other webpage, I took their non-response as a tacit endorsement.

That having been said, I apologize to all the widget users who are getting the 404 errors. A solution is in the works. Stay tuned.
