Site Status

Site Status fetches the page you specify and returns green if everything is fine or alerts you to any problems.
Note: if you are upgrading from a previous version of Site Status you will need to reenter your sites. Im sorry about that, but it is a fix for sites not sorting in alphabetical order by site name.
Click on the site name to expose the action buttons.

else if (siteResponse.search("<HTML>") != -1) {
This will get rid of the white dots for sites that return valid HTML pages.
After making this change the only time you should see a white dot is if the site's HTML page does not contain either a <HTML> or <html>.

i'm only getting white dots. does the above mean i have to type the URL like 'www.site.com/index.html' ?

In my case I'm pinging a site that returns just text. I modified to the code to give a green status for what I was looking for. Works great for me. I'm monitoring almost 20 sites. I would like to talk with the developer about enhancements.
