PB: I don't have the source code for Cooltick so it would be difficult to use it as an example of how it should be done (besides looking at it). In addition Cooltick is a stand alone comercial application and does not have the limitations set forth by the Widget Engine. Currently s…crolling is achieved by moving the text one position at a time between time intervals (hence the CPU activity). However there is a limitation of how fast the ticker can scroll. To get around this the accelerator preference moves the text more than one position at a time. Unfortunatly this also causes the text to appear jittery.

1. Stock Ticker widget uses 60% of CPU power. That is way too much. It should use no more then 5%. (tested on 1.6Ghz D610 dell)

PB: This is addressed by the economy scrolling preference as it is more economical on the CPU. As I continue to find ways to improve the CPU performance I will implement them.

2. Stock Ticker widget uses two widget engines in memory using up resources.

PB: It shows up twice in the Task Ma…nager Applications tab but in reality it is only taking up a single set of resources. You can verify this by right clicking the respective application and selecting Go To Process (both applications point to the same process).
