TachClock

I always wanted a modern interpretation of a pocket watch to match this digital age we live in. Since I had no way to build it in real life, I did the next best thing: I created a Konfabulator Widget instead.

This clock displays time using a 'digital tachometer' style display, where each lit indicator represents an elapsed hour, minute, or second. Simply read the number of indicators lit for the hours, minutes, and seconds to determine the time. Fortunately, this is easier than it might More

Peter, this is by far the BEST clock out there. Like someone else said, I'd ike to have this on my wrist {{{hint, hint}}}...

Anyway on to being nitpicky... I have to say, the chime is pretty bad...sounds an awful lot like the sound made by IE when it's blocking script or pop ups. Any plans on changing it?

This is gorgeous... I had a similar idea a few years ago, inspired by a loading animation for a PS2 game. It's not as pretty, and it only runs on Linux, but the same idea: http://www.freshmeat.net/orbitclock

WOW... I really love this. I know use it on all my computers.

I only have one request to make this truly perfect... Syncing with an atomic clock. I know "Windows XP handles that" but at home, this is only true once very 7 days. But not on an exchange network, you are not allowed to sync with a time server because the exchange server syncs for you with its clock, every few hours. I have no control over the exchange server, which is always 5min 24 seconds off, but I would love accurate More

Excellent concept and execution. Looks great. I read your code and agree with the treatment of the “second hand” as it approaches and reaches 60. Something to think about - Instead of blanking all previous second "ticks", use a second color to count the next minute - one color for one minute and another for the next minute. One color would be displayed and be overwritten as the next minute is counted. Each second dot would always have a color and not just black. The color change would then indicate the passage of a second.
