OK, I now have a theory as to what may be causing the reopening problem on Windows. I'm not sure how to fit it yet, but having a testable theory is the first step. When you click on the button the Widget issues a command to get the list of currently running widgets, on a Mac this is done with the ps command, on Windows it is a query to the registry. Then it tests each widget in the group list to see if it is also in the run list. If all widgets in the group list are also in the run list t More

    J,

Thanks for the info. The Widget Widgt does use COM to close running widgets, so maybe that is where the problem lies. What seems really odd to me is that it seems to work fine for some running Win XP Pro and not others.

    Regards.

I'm stumped. I'm running XP Pro and I'm having the same problem. It's not just limited to this one either. There's another widget I downloaded (Widget Dock Mod) that's supposed to be able to toggle widgets on and off, but it does the same thing. He mentioned something to me about the COM interface he used being testy in Y!W. Maybe it's the same thing here?

I'd also like to point out that I haven't said this Widget works on Windows XP Standard, only Pro. That is stated in the description text of the widget. I do not know that the techniques I am using to make the widget work on WIndows XP Pro are fully compatible with other flavors of Windows and I don't have them to test on.

    Regards.

There have been no problems reported on Mac OS. There have been a small number of people using Windows reporting that after closing widgets they autonmatically reopen. On my own WIndows XP Pro system I have thus far been unable to force this behavior. I am not giving up on it, I just haven't found a cause yet.

I think that for most people it is working fine and is quite usable.

    Regards.
