I'm sorry, but I don't. I have not been able to determine why some Windows systems have this problem and I don't have an alternative way to handle the widgets other than relying on COM.

I'm sorry. I really don't have any idea why COM would not be working on your system, only that COM is used to open the widgets. I'm not sure that experimenting on a Windows system is going to get you anywhere good though.

Hi, I checked my device manager for the COM ports i have set up. What I found was that COM ports 4 - 7 are set up for bluetooth serial ports and thats all I have. Do I have to add another port or do you think the bluetooth is the problem?

I'm not sure what the problem is for you.

On a fresh copy of Windows XP SP2 I've downloaded Y!WE 4.03 and installed it, then downloaded The Widgets Widget and moved it into the My Widgets folder. I then started The Widgets Widget, named the first group "Standard Set" and dragged the Analog Clock widget and the Memory Gauge widget onto the group + button. Then I clicked the button and they opened just fine. On Windows the Widget uses COM to open the widgets. It may be that COM is not working properly on your system, but I do not know why that would be.
