You enter the name of the task you are working on and press the button. Press the button again when you have finished working on the task.

The Widget updates a daily XML or CSV file. The file stores a list of the tasks you've worked on, and how long you worked on each one for. You can import the timesheet files into an application like Excel, or write your own script to convert the files into another format.

The information stored in the timesheet files are: task name, length in mil More

Other than a minor graphic glitch (the textarea should have its scrollbar turned off) and the file being written to the home directory instead of Documents (should use forward slashes in path names, not backslashes), this Widget also runs fine on the Mac.

    Hi,

I have fixed the incorrect month in the filename that RickyM noticed.

I have also added a CSV data format option in the preferences, because I couldn't find an easy way to import the XML into OpenOffice 2.0.

These will appear in 1.1 when it is accepted by Yahoo!

I will add task length in minutes to the saved file requested by Cincinnatus, but I have to think a little bit about some way to provide the carbon copy task names requested by Garbonzo, perhaps I can do it using an auto-complete feature in the textbox.

    Thanks.

In the XML file, I would (and others might) find it useful if you could modify the task element so that it had an additional attribute "task/@lengthMinutes". The XML would look like <task lengthMS="60000" lengthMinutes="1" name="Some task">. The presentation of elapsed miliseconds is interesting, but not much that I do at work needs to be measured so precisely.

This is pretty nice. It would be even better/easier if you could predefine selections in preferences and pick activities off the list instead of typing it every time. That way you can easily track common activities without having to retype them or make sure that it is typed exactly the same way for summation purposes.

    Thanks!
