Ultimate WOTD

This Widget grabs the Word of the Day from multiple sources, and provides the pronunciation(s), definition(s), usage examples, etymology, and even audio pronunciations when available! It also provides a link back to the source's webpage. This is a great way to increase your vocabulary, especially if you are preparing for the SAT or PSAT!

I can't get Ultimate Word to open on my Mac running 10.2.8 -- it opens and works fine Mac's running later versions of the OS. It downloads and installs, but when Konfab tries to open it, I see a partial window attempt to open, and then it closes. Is it not compatible with this OS? Also -- I agree with the comment about making the footprint just a little smaller

I'm sure that must be an irritating comment, as the graphics seem painstakingly made, but sometimes KISS is a great principle :-)

Would you consider releasing a version with a smaller desktop footprint? Possible reduced(no?) graphics? That would be ideal.

Very nice! The response time seems a little sluggish, but not horribly so. I'm using it to supplement my studies for the GRE, and it's been great (once I did a couple of edits and got the Urban dictionary out of there). Thanks!

I've submitted UWOTD 2.0 to the gallery, and hopefully by November it will be available. (I decided not to call it 1.2) It includes many "fixes" to work around the ever-changing websites it harvests data from. Version 2.0 also has better HTML character code (&#nnn;) translating and an AutoUpdate feature, so you will not have to keep wandering back here looking for updates.

Because it takes so long for the Widget Gallary to post updates (it took about three weeks last time) and bot… More
