USPS Address Verifier!

by Howard Deiner

Uses web services from USPS to take an address, verify it, find the zip+4, and format it in the standard fashion (abreviations, etc.) that USPS wants addresses in. You can copy the formatted address into the system clipboard for ease of integration with other applications. Also looks up and displays the following information with your address: Carrier Route, County, Delivery Point, Check Digit, LAC, eLOT, eLOT Ascending/Descending Indicator, Record Type Code, PMB Designator, PMB Number, Default Flag, and EWS Flag.

Sorry about the Mac issues. I'll cogitate on it...

AFA the black cursor over the black background - Konabulator has no cursor color support. I get blue cursor lines. Hmmm...

AFA the parse messages - this is an indication that USPS is getting multiple address hits. Make sure that you have a unique address. Some future version could parse this out and let you choose the right one.

AFA verifying a list of addresses (as in a clipboard...), Konfabulator has poor clipboard support. The al More

I am not getting the backgrounds at all.
What directory do the PNG files need to be in?

Just tried this with Konfabulator 2.1.1 (on Mac OS X 10.4.2) and it keeps giving the error message "Zip codes are 5 digits" after I enter a 5-digit zip code. Can't reselect the field to try again, and when I start over from the beginning, it crashes. All of the fields could be wider, by the way. If this actually worked, it would be great.

A black cursor on top of a black text box is probably not a good idea! It's nearly impossible to make out the text insertion point.

I've been getting some of those parse messages too, but I can't seem to find a pattern to it.
