I love this widget. I look forward to seeing the new word of the day each morning. There is one thing it's missing though.
There are not enough options for customizing the text, such as drop shadows, aligning the text to the left, right or center, or fitting the text into a designated area. Sometimes the definitions are too long and trail off the edge of my monitor.
I still love this widget and I won't stop using it just yet.
~Thanks

Great widget!
Would have been even cooler if it came with a background window for it (with additional controls for the window itself .. like maybe background color, skins, opacity etc.). Also it would be really great if the window could show a small icon/ link to the source (for e.g. www.wordsmith.org) so the user may explore the word further, for say more detailed meanings or synonyms/ antonyms etc.

It works as advertised, but the vocabulary is really too limited. Take today's word "dis" "to show disrespect for". Useful if you were perhaps in a coma since 1992. Needs a more complex vocab source to continue on my desktop.

I have updated this widget to address some of the comments here. Details in the thread (I didn't include a readme with the widget... not enough to put in it :-)
There is the distant possibility of a third source for a word of the day, but I have not yet investigated m-w.com enough to know for sure.

A later attempt corrected the earlier problem signaled on April 19. I can't explain what happened the first time.
I totally agree with the author's suggestion for v.2 that a color option would be a welcome addition.
